Overall, my non-verbal part seemed to score higher than my verbal part. I had sufficient, logical evidence that backed up my thesis--including all the various elements that we had to incorporate. During the speech, the part that I did well on was maintaining eye-contact with the audience constantly. I never forgot that there were actually people in front of me listening. I was aware of the space around me and where the students/teacher were located. I had a loud and clear voice in order for everyone to hear me. Also, I had a confident tone that grabbed the audience's attention. I was very straightforward with my points and spoke in a steady pace for people to take in the information. People could tell I was passionate and enthusiastic about my speech and showed the audience a viewpoint of what the students believe in.
Next time, I should be more aware of constantly moving around. Because I do get nervous at times and believe that the audience will get bored if I stay in one spot, I tend to move around back and forth. However, I realized that this actually distracts the audience more. Thus, next time, I need to stay in one spot where everyone can see me and just move my eye contact to various places around the room. Therefore I know people are paying attention and will be more impacting. Also, next time I should incorporate more hand gestures that are relevant and enhance my speech understand. This will put emphasis on certain places in my speech to grab the audience's attention. Overall, I did an adequate job in persuading others about the reasoning in why this system is absurd; I just need to focus on how to deliver my points in a non-distracting way.
